Join us for our third Dog of the Year Contest! The Piedmont Park Conservancy is looking for an awesome pooch to represent beautiful Piedmont Park for the upcoming year. The winning dog will receive: 1) Dog of the Year status from August 3, 2019 – July 31, 2020, 2) entry to this year’s Splish Splash Doggie Bash, 3) entry to next spring’s Doggie Dash 5K, and 4) will attend a photoshoot to equip the Conservancy with photographs to help promote the nonprofit’s work! Terms and conditions apply. See below. 

Contestants will go through an initial photo contest to gain the most likes! The top 6 dogs will then attend an in-park contest to compete for the title! Dogs will 1) sit for owner; 2) walk with owner; and 3) display 15-30 seconds of free-play.

Dates of Importance:

  • Entry Period: July 3 - July 18, 2019

  • Extended Public Voting: July 25, 2019 - 3pm EST August 2, 2019

  • In-Person Contest: August 3, 2019 at 10am

Terms and Conditions


The Dog Contest is sponsored by The Piedmont Park Conservancy, 400 Park Drive, Atlanta, GA 30306 (“Sponsor”).


The Piedmont Park Dog of the Year Contest (“Dog Contest”) is open to all individuals ages 18 and up at the time of entry. The individual’s dog must be old enough to receive a rabies vaccination in their jurisdiction. Organizations are not eligible to participate; individuals only.

Exception: Piedmont Park Conservancy employees, interns, and temporary staff between the dates of June 1-August 3, 2019 as well as any individual that resides in the same household of employees, interns or temporary staff are not eligible to enter.

One Dog Per Household: Each household may submit only one dog for the contest, with one photograph.

Immunization: The dog’s guardian must be able to provide up-to-date copy of your pet’s rabies vaccination certificate at the dog contest on August 3, 2019.

Present to Win: The final 6 eligible dogs for the contest will be determined at 4:00pm on July 31, 2019 (extended to 3:00pm EST on August 2, 2019) and will be notified via email. Then, there will be an in-person contest at 10:00am on August 3, 2019, further described in “IN-PERSON CONTEST” below, that will determine the winner of the Piedmont Park Dog of the Year. Both the dog and the owner must be present to compete and win.

By submitting an entry to the Dog Contest, entrants certify that their participation in this Dog Contest is not illegal or in violation of any law, regulation, treaty or administrative act, and that the laws of their governing jurisdiction of residence at the time of entry do not prohibit or restrict the receipt of any prize under this Dog Contest. The Piedmont Park Conservancy reserves the right to reject any entry at its sole discretion.


  1. ENTRY

The entry period for the Dog Contest begins on July 3, 2019, and ends at 11:59pm EST on Friday, July 18, 2019 (the “Entry Period”). Entries submitted prior or after the Entry Period will not be eligible. The sponsor’s computer is the official time-keeping device for the Dog Contest.

The Sponsor needs to submit one photograph that abides by the Photograph Terms.

Photograph Terms:

All photographs must be submitted via this link: (Google Form.) The submission must include all of the required fields. Images sent through mail will not be accepted. You may enter one dog per household. Sponsor reserves the right to reject any additional entries or entries that do not comply with these Terms.

If entrants would like to submit a previously published material, please note the following:-The previously published material must have non-exclusive rights, and the entrant has the right to grant us permission to utilize the photograph with non-exclusive rights-Upon request, the entrant must be able to disclose when and where the photo previously appeared. -If you choose to include people in your submission, you are responsible for obtaining the necessary releases from the individuals depicted, and must be able to provide copies of those releases to the Piedmont Park Conservancy upon request.

The following submissions are ineligible: Images of dogs depicted as abused or mis-treated. Photos that violate or infringe upon another person’s rights, including but not limited to copyright and photographs of persons without the necessary legal consent in your jurisdiction. The Piedmont Park Conservancy reserves the right to require entrants to submit evidence of the subject’s legal consent to be photographed for the submitted photograph. The entrant is responsible for obtaining a legally enforceable waiver from any photographed subject that complies with the appropriate jurisdiction. Photos that contain sexually explicit, obscene, violent, nude or other inappropriate content. Images that involve the harassing, damaging, or is threatening to wildlife, including but not limited to the environment, animals and plants.

The Piedmont Park Conservancy has sole and absolute discretion to determine entry eligibility.

Submissions may be NOT be watermarked.


The Public will vote for the top 6 eligible dogs to enter the final contest to be held on August 3, 2019. The Public voting period begins on July 25, 2019, and ends at 4:00pm EST on July 31, 2019 (the “Voting Period”) (extended to 3:00pm EST on August 2, 2019). Votes submitted before or after the Voting Period will not be eligible. The sponsor’s computer is the official time-keeping device for the Dog Contest.


An up-to-date rabies vaccination certificate for the dog are required at the Dog Contest on August 3, 2019 at 10:00am.


At 10:00am on Saturday, August 3, the top 6 photographs with the most votes will be eligible to compete in the Dog Contest to be judged by the Piedmont Park Conservancy’s designated judges.

Both the dog and owner must be present at 10:00am on August 3 at the Piedmont Park Dog Parks. 

Dogs will be judged on their behavior, charisma, and friendliness towards other dogs.

Dogs will need to: 1) Sit for owner. 2) Walk with owner. 3) Display 30 seconds of free-play. Activity is decided by the owner. May include up to four (4) small props no larger than a hula hoop. No glass, alcohol, or other park prohibited items are allowed

Judging will be conducted by a panel of Conservancy employees and a group of guest judges to be selected by the Piedmont Park Conservancy at its sole discretion.


The Dog Contest winner will receive the Piedmont Park Dog of the Year status from August 3, 2019 through July 31, 2020.

The Dog Contest winner will receive entry to this year’s Splish Splash Doggie Bash, a dog pool party that takes place in October.

The Dog Contest winner will receive entry to next spring’s Doggie Dash 5K, a race that includes humans and dogs, which typically takes place in March.

The Dog Contest winner will attend a photoshoot that provides the Piedmont Park Conservancy with photography to use in future marketing materials and recognition.

Any details not specified above will be determined by Sponsor, in its sole discretion. The status of Winner may not be transferred and must be accepted as awarded.

The status of Piedmont Park Dog of the Year may be revoked by the Piedmont Park Conservancy from both the dog and the owner at any time, for any reason. The Piedmont Park Conservancy may transfer the status to the next runner-up that is eligible to be Piedmont Park Dog of the Year.


When you enter, you will automatically become a subscriber of the Dog Newsletter of the Piedmont Park Conservancy. This includes special event invitations, digital messages, text and a bi-monthly e-newsletter. You may cancel and unsubscribe at any time.


You cannot win the Dog Contest unless you comply with all of the Terms.

In the event that the administration of the Dog Contest is impaired in any way, the Sponsor may: (a) suspend the Dog Contest to address the impairment and then resume the Dog Contest; or (b) award the winner(s) from among the eligible entries received up to the time of the impairment. Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify and seek damages from any individual who tampers with the operation of the Dog Contest, violates these Terms. Additionally, the sponsor reserve the right to disqualify any entrant that acts in a disruptive or unsportsmanlike manner.

Sponsor’s failure to enforce any of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of that provision.


Your photographs help the Piedmont Park Conservancy to raise awareness about the importance on the nonprofit to the surrounding community as well as inform the public about the Conservancy’s programs and services. You will retain all rights to any photograph you submit including ownership if applicable. If you submit a photograph to enter the Dog Contest, you grant the Piedmont Park Conservancy a royalty-free, nonexclusive right to utilize the photograph for all internal and external communications.


By entering, you agree to release and hold harmless the Piedmont Park Conservancy and its subsidiaries, affiliates, advertising and promotion agencies, partners, representatives, agents, successors, assigns, employees, officers, and directors from any liability, illness, injury, death, loss, litigation, claim, or damage that may occur, directly or indirectly, whether caused by negligence or not, from: (i) such entrant’s participation in the Dog Contest, and/or his/her acceptance, possession, use, or misuse of any prize or any portion thereof; (ii) technical failures of any kind, including but not limited to the malfunction of any computer, cable, network, hardware, or software, or other mechanical equipment; (iii) the unavailability or inaccessibility of any transmissions, telephone, or Internet service; (iv) unauthorized human intervention in any part of the entry process or the Dog Contest; (v) electronic or human error in the administration of the Dog Contest or the processing of entries.


Any information the entrant submits as part of the Dog Contest will comply with the Piedmont Park Conservancy’s Privacy Policy. The information provided goes directly to the Piedmont Park Conservancy. Except where prohibited, the entrant consents to the Sponsor’s use of his/her and their dog’s name in any list of winners, and for promotional reasons in any format without further payment or consideration.
