About the 35th Anniversary
Our past work, current programs, and future plans wouldn’t be possible without you. Thank you!
Since 1989, the Piedmont Park Conservancy has dedicated itself to preserving, protecting, and enhancing Piedmont Park for all Atlantans. Operating under a collaborative agreement with the City of Atlanta, the Conservancy has raised and contributed more than $110M to restore the park and build and maintain new features. In addition, the Conservancy offers a wide range of programs to visitors of all ages and backgrounds, and with the help of thousands of volunteers annually, serves as the park’s primary steward and keeper.
But we’re just getting started. We are celebrating our 35th Anniversary in 2024 and to mark this milestone, the Conservancy will undertake an ambitious and comprehensive park master planning initiative starting this spring. Our plan will center on a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to add new acreage and green space to the park ensuring it remains a local and regional treasure for decades to come.
In addition, we will undertake $2.5M in park enhancements to better our park for now and the future including park beautifications, infrastructure improvements, and new park amenities.
As we commit to the park’s care in our next 35 years (and beyond), we will create an operating reserve fund to provide a solid underpinning and sure-footedness for the Conservancy. Finally, we will launch a public awareness campaign to build additional support for our work.
Thank you for celebrating 35 years of caring for the park we all love.

GREEN GIANT AWARD
City of Atlanta
The Green Giant Award honors an organization for its outstanding work in advancing and improving green space, the environment, and/or public parks throughout our city and region.
This year’s Green Giant Awardee is the City of Atlanta. The award is presented to the City for its multifaceted, multi-leveled support of safe and accessible parks and open space for all Atlantans. The award acknowledges the leadership and vision of Mayor Andre Dickens, the Atlanta City Council, and the Department of Parks and Recreation as well as our city’s citizens for recognizing the importance of parks and open space to our city. Some initiatives related to this recognition include: the 2021 Activate ATL master plans for parks and recreation that aims to ensure that all Atlantans are within a 10-minute walk to a park or other green space; the 2022 Moving Atlanta Forward infrastructure program which included $190M in infrastructure bond for parks, trails, and public safety; and the 2023 property tax millage rate increase that doubles the annual park improvement fund beginning in 2024 to fundamentally improve and increase parks and recreation centers across Atlanta. This award also acknowledges the longstanding partnership between the City of Atlanta and the Piedmont Park Conservancy in collaboratively managing and stewarding our city’s iconic and historic park for now and generations to come.
