Piedmont Park Leading Recycling Movement
Initiative Coincides with new Concessions Program
Piedmont Park Conservancy is launching a pilot recycling program, the first of its kind in any City of Atlanta Park. The much needed service will provide some 50 recycling bins for plastic and aluminum debris from the more than 3 million plus visitors to the historic green space.

“No other City of Atlanta Park and very few around the country offer a recycling program for its guests,” said Yvette Bowden, President and CEO of the Conservancy. “This pilot program is just another example of how Piedmont Park is looking for leadership opportunities in the conservation movement, and why the Conservancy is recognized nationally for our green space best practices,” said Yvette.

Well Pilot Program Underway in Piedmont Park
Piedmont Park, like all of Atlanta, is held to the water restrictions issued by the City of Atlanta due to the extreme drought. As a result,
the Conservancy is exploring a pilot program to install a well that would provide enough non-potable water to protect the trees, Active Oval/Ball Fields and the open meadow. Our goal is to find enough water to underground that would allow us to pump water to recharge Lake Clara Meer, and then use that to preserve the vital green space in midtown Atlanta.

In addition to the well, the Conservancy is also incorporating various sustainable and water conserving approaches
including rain gardens, cisterns to capture storm water runoff, rain barrels, and planting native species.
